A tiger cub captured at Bhospara in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, near here, on Tuesday is being taken care of by a team of veterinarians at the Theppakadu Forest Veterinary Centre and it is responding to treatment, according to the Deputy Director of the reserve, D. Chandran.

The female carnivore aged just a few months had strayed into a goat shed and killed a goat.

He said that it was weak and showed signs of stress.

It has been moved to a bigger cage and put on a special diet, he said adding that its condition was likely to be monitored for about a fortnight. A decision on shifting the cub to some other place would be taken after consulting the Chief Wildlife Warden.

To a question, he said that compensation has been given to the owner of the goat.
