From different types to spares and supportive devices for trucks, tippers and trailers, hundreds of products were on display at the three-day expo on Truck, Trailer, Tyre, OEMS and Allied Industry that began at CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex here on Saturday.

President of Coimbatore Lorry Owner’s Association K.S. Kaliaperumal inaugurated the expo.

Innovative products on display were automatic load closing mechanism and struggle free tyre removal for replacement mechanism. Manpower shortage is one of the major issues faced by truckers. “Such latest devices will come in handy for drivers and fleet operators,” Mr. Kaliaperumal said.

Director of Media Day Marketing, Mohammed Mudasir Ahmed, the organised the event said that 70 stalls have been put up by companies across India. This includes seven of them who are joint ventures of leading companies in the United States of America, Germany, Japan, China, Turkey and Germany.

Mr. Ahmed said that the event has been organised for the first time and Coimbatore has been chosen as truckers associations are well organised in this region. “There are strong and influential associations in Namakkal, Salem, Tiruchengode, Sankari, Erode and Coimbatore,” he said.

According to him, the associations are influential decision-makers. “These associations own truck, spare and lubricant dealerships and also fuel stations that offer the products to their members at a subsidised cost. We are targeting these associations and their members for the expo,” he added.

Stating that but for Western Tamil Nadu such organised and well-informed truckers’ associations are present only at a very few places in North India, Mr. Ahmed added that they will be organising the second edition of this expo at Ahmedabad next September.

On Sunday,www.truckingindia.ina website the truck industry will be launched. Its founder Sathish Narayanan said that the features of the website include comparing different makes of trucks, reviews and news on trucks, trailers, tippers and other goods carriers and related products.
