“I was on night shift duty at the company at the time of accident. At 2.38 a.m. I heard a loud noise as if some heavy objects collided on the road. I rushed to the spot, only to find a man lying on the road with his head run over by a vehicle,” recalled the security guard.

The man said that he was shocked to see the still body of the youth lying on road with his head crushed.

“I was perplexed for a moment over what to do. Soon, some people gathered at the spot and we informed the police. The body lied on the road for more than 20 minutes before the ambulance reached,” said the security guard.

According to him, Ragupathy’s two-wheeler was lying on the road with its rear portion facing the front of road as it it took a turn.

“I strongly doubt that the two-wheeler could have hit the wooden arch due to the position in which it was found on the road. Even if the two-wheeler hadn’t hit the arch, the structure occupied a major portion of the left side,” he said.

The security guard said that he had seen a lorry, similar to the one that ran over Ragupathy, driven on the wrong side for three consecutive days around the same time, violating one-way rule.

“I was posted for night duty four days before the accident. But from day one, I could see a similar lorry coming from the wrong side,” he said.

Visual captured in a surveillance camera at the company shows the security guard running to the accident spot. As per the visual, Raghupathy’s motorcycle is seen passing the CMC Junction at 2.38 a.m.

The camera has also captured the lorry taking left turn at the junction at 2.39 a.m. The police have accessed the video and have also recorded the statement of the security guard.
