Tantransco caution to the public

The Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation (Tantransco) has cautioned the public in over 50 villages in the district to avoid construction of buildings near the 400 kilovolt extra high tension line from the Mettur Thermal Power Station State III to Arasur Powergrid Corporation of India.

According to a release from Tantransco, with the commissioning of the 600 MW power plant at Mettur, a new evacuation line passes through the district, including PN Patty, Kolnaikkenpatty, Koodakal, Poolampatty, Nerinjipet, Ariya Goundanoor, Ammapet, Boothapady, Kurichi, Poonachi, Olagadam, Ottapalayam, Paruvachi, Punnam, Vembathy, Koothampoondi, Peruthaliyur, P. Mettupalayam, Odanthurai, Vellalapalayam, LM Palapalayam, Nalligoundanoor, Chandrapuram, Nagadevampalayam, Vellangkoil, Kadukkampalayam, Siruvalur, Santhipalayam, Gettiseviyur, Nitchampalayam, Poochanaickanpalayam, Sokkanoor, Pudupalayam, Ariyagoundanpalayam, Merkupathi, Olazhavakoil, Thulukkamuthoor, Ayyampalayam, Naduvacherry, Vadugapalayam, Pichandampalayam, Karukkampalayam, Sevoor, Karumapalayam, Nambiyampalayam, Sundakkampalayam, Karayapalayam, Thekkalur, Sooripalayam, Thimmanapalayam, Kittampalayam, Sengalipalayam, and Arasur sub-station. The Tantransco has urged the public not to construct any structure or building, plant tall trees, or dump waste materials underneath the line or near it. If required, buildings can be constructed 20 feet away from the line.
