Sunday night’s drizzle in most parts of the city, an overcast sky on Monday morning and a late afternoon summer shower brought down the soaring mercury level in and around Coimbatore.
The showers led to a pleasant evening that stood in stark contrast to the morning that was sultry and occasionally sunny. Rains lashed from 2.45 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. in most parts of the city. A few places outside the city, too, experienced good shower. On Sunday there was drizzle in the evening and also at night.
The shower led to water-logging on both arterial roads and also streets in residential colonies, giving a tough time to two-wheeler riders. It also led to traffic jams on most roads.
The past few days were extremely hot with the mercury touching 36 degree C during the day.
Weather observers have predicted showers on Tuesday as well.
