Student commits suicide

A 16-year-old Plus One student committed suicide at his residence in Saibaba Colony on Friday night.

According to the Saibaba Colony police, the boy resorted to the extreme step by hanging his self after the girl he was in love with did not reciprocate. The girl reported the matter to her parents, who met the principal of the school where the boy studied. After the principal counselled the boy, he returned home and hanged his self. Based on a complaint from the boy’s father, Hariharan, the police have registered a case in this connection.

Couple kidnapped

Thondamuthur police have registered a case to trace newly married couple Eswaran, 35, and Madhumathi, 20, who, Eswaran’s brother Selvaraj said were kidnapped by Madhumathi’s father Palanisamy and relatives.

Eswaran, a bus driver from Thondamuthur, had married Madhumathi, with whom he fell in love when the girl used to travel in his bus. When the girl’s parents learnt about Madhumathi’s love affair, they had registered their opposition. But Eswaran and Madhumathi went ahead and got married at a temple on June 12. They then sought the help of the police.

The police said that on Thursday evening, a few persons called Eswaran out of his house on the pretext that they would like to discuss a business proposal with him. His wife Madhumathi also went out of the house with him. When they were talking, a few persons who arrived at the scene kidnapped the couple. Efforts are on to trace the couple.

Boy dies

Rathinapuri police have registered a case to ascertain the cause that led to the death of Suhel Ali Khan, nine. The police said that fifth grader had vomited and complained of stomach pain when he was having food at his house in Rathinapuri on Friday. He then lost consciousness. His father Mohammad rushed him to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital where the boy died.

Worker killed

Kathirvel, 32, of Aalampalayam in Pollachi, was killed in a road accident on Friday. According to the Pollachi East Police, the incident occurred, when he attempted to cross the road near bus stand to take a bus home, his shirt got caught in a protruding rod in the median.

He lost balance, fell on the road and came under the wheels of a lorry. He died on the spot.
