Southern Railway announces changes in pattern of train services today

Cheran and Kovai express trains cancelled on May 5

Following modification of Arakkonam yard, the Southern Railway has announced the following changes in the pattern of train services on May 4 (Friday).

Train No. 12511 Gorakhpur – Thiruvananthapuram Express scheduled to leave Gorakhpur on Thursday (May 3) and reach Chennai Central on Friday (May 4) will be diverted via Gudur, Renigunta, Melpakkam and Jolarpettai. Consequently, this train will skip Chennai Central and instead it will be given a stoppage of two minutes at Tiruttani.

Train No.12516 Silchar – Thiruvananthapuram Express, which left Silchar on Tuesday (May 1) and reach Perambur on Friday (May 4) will be diverted via Gudur, Renigunta, Melpakkam and Jolarpettai. Consequently, this train will skip the stoppages at Perambur and Arakkonam and will halt for two minutes at Tiruttani.

Train No.13351 Dhanbad – Alappuzha Express, which left Dhanbad on Wednesday (May 2) and reach Chennai Central on Friday (May 4) will be diverted to run via Gudur, Renigunta, Melpakkam and Jolarpettai. Consequently, this train will skip the stoppages at Nayudupeta, Sulurpeta, Chennai Central, Thiruvallur and Arakkonam. Instead, this train will be given a stoppage of two minutes at Tiruttani.

Train No. 22651 Chennai Central–Palakkad Express on May 4 (Friday) running via Arakkonam, Katpadi, Salem, Namakkal, Karur and Dindigul will be diverted via Chennai Egmore, Villupuram, Tiruchchirappalli and Dindigul.

Train No. 22650 Erode – Chennai Central Yercaud Express departing on May 4 to reach Chennai Central on Saturday (May 5) will be diverted via Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Chennai Egmore. Consequently, this train will skip the stoppages at Walajah Road, Arakkonam, Thiruvallur and Perambur. Instead, it will be given a stoppage of two minutes at Villupuram, Tambaram and Chennai Egmore.

Train No. 22652 Palakkad – Chennai Central Express, scheduled to leave Palakkad on Friday (May 4) running via Dindigul, Salem, Jolarpettai, Katpadi and Perambur and reach Chennai Central on Saturday (May 5) will be diverted via Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli, Villupuram and Chennai Egmore. Consequently, the train will skip the stoppages at Karur, Mohanur, Namakkal, Rasipuram, Salem, Jolarpettai, Gudiyattam, Katpadi, Arakkonam and Perambur. Instead, it will stop for two minutes at Villupuram, Tambaram and Chennai Egmore.

Following express trains will be rescheduled on Friday (May 4): Train No. 12602 Mangalore – Chennai Central Mail, scheduled to leave Mangalore at 1.25 p.m. will be rescheduled to leave Mangalore late by 45 minutes.

Following trains, scheduled to leave Chennai Central on Friday (May 4), will be rerouted via Arakkonam, Tiruttani, Chitteri: Train No. 22639 Chennai Central – Alappuzha Express; Train No.12671 Chennai Central – Mettupalayam Nilgiris Express; Train No. 12673 Chennai Central – Coimbatore Cheran Express and Train No.22649 Chennai Central – Erode Yercaud Express.

Following trains, scheduled to leave on Friday (May 4), will be rerouted via Tiruttani: Train No.12672 Mettupalayam – Chennai Central Nilgiris Express; Train No.12602 Mangalore – Chennai Central Mail; Train No. 22640 Alappuzha – Chennai Central Express; Train No.12674 Coimbatore – Chennai Central Cheran Express; Train No.12682 Coimbatore – Chennai Central Express and Train No.12624 Thiruvananthapuram – Chennai Central Mail.

Train No.12686 Mangalore – Chennai Central Express, scheduled to leave Mangalore on Friday (May 4) will be regulated at Walajah Road from 6.15 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Trains cancelled

Cheran Express originating from Coimbatore and bound for Chennai stands cancelled on Saturday (May 5). However, the coaches of Cheran Express will run as a special train late in the night, after traffic eases at Arakkonam. This is to facilitate that the coaches reach Chennai for operating it as Cheran Express from Chennai Central to Coimbatore on May 6, sources in the railways said.

Kovai Express

Similarly, Kovai Express on the Coimbatore - Chennai Central section on May 5 (Saturday) stands cancelled on both directions.
