Mystery shrouds the death of a soldier in the high security Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) at Wellington near here.
The body of the soldier Havildar A. Ramasamy (44) was found with a stab injury near his quarters during the wee hours of Saturday.
According to the Superintendent of Police, the Nilgiris, Kapil Kumar C. Saratkar, the deceased was on sentry work and was staying with about 20 or 30 other soldiers in a dormitory. Since he was a Community Major Havildar, he had been allotted a separate room. He was scheduled to leave for his native place Kovilpatti on Saturday. At 3.30 a.m. his body was found on the veranda with a bleeding injury in the abdomen.
A knife was found on a table inside his room.
Stating that although many were sleeping close by, no one had heard any sounds, Mr.Saratkar said and added that a sniffer dog has been pressed into service.
