The Coimbatore Corporation has asked the consultant engaged for preparing the feasibility study for skywalk and multilevel car parking projects in the city, to revise its data and come up with a fresh proposal.
Presentation
After a presentation at the Corporation on Wednesday, the officials were of the opinion that a lot more work needs to be done and that the alignment of landings for the skywalks needed to be reworked, said Commissioner T.K. Ponnusamy. The Corporation had also asked the consultant to modify a few aspects in the multilevel car parking project.
Visit
After the presentation, Mayor S.M. Velusamy, Commissioner T.K. Ponnusamy, senior engineers and other officials went to the junction in front of the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and the spot near the Coimbatore Railway Junction to see how the skywalks could be constructed. U. Vijayaraghavan, manager, Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services Limited, was also present. Mayor Mr. Velusamy asked the consultant to come out with a fresh proposal at the earliest because the Corporation was interested in completing the projects ahead of schedule to take up other projects.
Places
The Coimbatore Corporation had engaged the consultant to study the possibility of installing skywalks in Gandhipuram, in front the CMCH, near the Coimbatore Railway Junction, Ramanathapuram Junction, Singanallur Junction and across Cross Cut Road.
It had also proposed multilevel car parking facilities on Cross Cut Road, D.B. Road, Town Hall and Ukkadam.
