Sanction for water supply works

District Collector M. Karunakaran on Thursday accorded sanction for works to be taken up at a cost of Rs. 14.84 crore for improving the Pilloor water supply scheme.

The Collector inspected the treatment plant, water intake well and other facilities. The sanction accorded now include works for replacement of 800 metres of cable at a cost of Rs. 16.50 lakh at the head works for water intake and Rs. 6.50 lakh for setting up trolleys to repair the faulty motors. The sanction also included Rs. 51 lakh for improving the efficiency of systems at the water treatment plant, besides two works at the pumping station and Rs. 14 crore for laying 1,880 metres of main pipeline.

The sanction will be forwarded to the Chief Engineer of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board and works will begin after getting his consent. TWAD Board officials accompanied the Collector.
