The house of a former Deputy Superintendent of Police has been burgled here.

The house at Vidhya Colony near Thadagam belonged to Beeman, a retired police official who had died few years ago and his wife B.Ganga Devi.Ganga Devi had gone out of station last week. She found the locks on the front door of her house broken when she returned during the late hours of Wednesday.

She found that 35 sovereigns of gold jewellery, a television and other electronic appliances including a computer were missing.The Thudiyalur Police have registered a case and are investigating. Superintendent of Police M. Sudhakar inspected the crime scene and directed the officers to expedite the investigation.

Forensic personnel have recovered several fingerprints. Further investigations are on.
