The one-month-long annual rejuvenation camp for elephants at the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve ended at the Bombax and ET Mara Camps on Wednesday.

E. Vijayaraghavan, forest veterinarian, Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, said that the animals had been fed a special diet during the camp. The diet would be stopped from Thursday when the elephants will once again be given a normal diet.

The camp was being held during this time of the year when the elephants most required it, as the lack of green fodder bring down their weight.

After the camp began, Sigur has received rain and green fodder has once again started regenerating. The Forest Department officials are confident that the worst of the summer is over.

On Wednesday evening, Assistant Conservator of Forests, forest rangers, field staff, and mahouts attended the conclusion ceremony.

Officials said that most of the animals had gained weight at the camp.

The weights will be recorded on Thursday.
