Rain wreaked havoc in Valparai on Wednesday night, uprooting trees on the Valparai-Aliyar ghat road and damaging three houses.
A tree that fell near the 38th hair pin bend on the ghat road disrupted traffic for four hours, till 6 a.m. The houses were damaged at Thulasingam Nagar.
In the last 24 hours that ended at 8.30 a.m. on Thursday, Coimbatore district recorded a total rainfall of 157.80 mm and an average rainfall of 13.15 mm. Highest rainfall of 53 mm was reported from Cincona in Valparai while the lowest of 1.80 was reported at the TNAU rain gauge station. Rainfall in mm in other places:

Parambikulam Aliyar Project reservoirs continued to witness steady inflow with the highest in Sholayar.
Storage in reservoirs in feet and full reservoir level in brackets are as follows: Sholayar 95.98 (160), Parambikulam 08.66 (72), Aliyar 60.40 (120), Thirumurthy 04.80 (60) and Amaravathy 35.49 (90).
Water level in Sholayar has risen by 74 ft in the last 19 days because of the torrential downpour.
Incessant rain was reported in Siruvani hills as well and the dam site recorded close to 30 mm rainfall.

Showers on Wednesday and Thursday continued to hit normal life in suburban pockets of Udhagamandalam.
As a result of the incessant rain, many ghat section roads in the district are damaged.
The worst-affected road is the 30 km stretch of the 55 km-long Udhagamandalam-Gudalur Road. Motorists find the manoeuvring tough in the stretch from T.R. Bazaar to Hanumapuram, especially close to Wood Brooke area.
