Many parts of The Nilgiris, including Udhagamandalam, and Coonoor received heavy rain on Monday.
The Deputy Director of Horticulture, N. Mani, told The Hindu that if the rain does not intensify, the main season crops, and even the autumn season crops were likely to get affected.
In June, Udhagamandalam recorded 120mm of rainfall as against 160mm during the corresponding period last year.
In Coonoor it was 14mm (54mm last June).
In Kotagiri it was 45mm (84mm).
In Gudalur it was 205mm (665mm).
The average rainfall for June should be 170mm.
