Quack caught red-handed; medical shop sealed

District Collector Rohini P. Bhajibhakare caught red-handed a quack treating people in a medical shop in Magudanchavadi near here during a surprise check on Saturday.

The Collector as part of the anti-dengue operations conducted surprise check in Magudanchavadi and Sankagiri areas.

In Kandarkulamanikkam near Magudanchavadi, the Collector inspected an over-head water tank and directed the officials to clean it immediately. On spotting the open ground level tanks, the Collector ordered immediate transfer of Senthil, secretary of Kandarkulamanikkam panchayat.

Ms. Rohini conducted surprise check in a medical shop in Magudanchavadi bus stop, when she noticed Baskar (40) treating people. Enquiries revealed that he was a quack. The Collector immediately summoned the police, who arrested Baskar.

The Collector ordered the closure of the medical shop and herself locked and affixed seal. She directed T. Ramadorai Murugan, Revenue Divisional Officer, Sankagiri, who accompanied her, to initiate further action.

The Collector, in a statement, said that anti-dengue operations would be continued in the district and action would be taken against the officials who did not evince interest in the drive.
