Plea to speed up online building plan approvals

April 25, 2010 07:20 pm | Updated 07:20 pm IST - Coimbatore:

President of the Tamil Nadu Consumer Welfare Centre J.V. George has appealed to the Corporation and the Government to take expeditious steps for speeding up the process of online building plan approvals.

In a memorandum, Mr. George pointed out that for larger buildings Local Planning Authority was according permission or approval. Whereas poor people were approaching the civic body seeking approval for building plans for constructions that are within 200 square meters and less than that.

The Corporation had introduced the online procedure for submission of application forms with building plan sketch. Beginning March 1, applications for building plan approval with sketch were not getting loaded onto the website.

Enquiries revealed that the computer was not able to accept the fresh applications, since the previous forms had not been downloaded by the civic body.
