Four women, and their children attracted attention at the weekly grievances redress programme organized by the district administration at the Collectorate here on Monday.

D. Ashwini of Cherambadi, and G. Wilma Joyce of Pandhalur said that they had been forced to run from pillar to post in the last ten years to get house sites allotted to them.

They want the Nilgiris Collector P. Sankar to intervene in the matter. They said that they were spouses of police personnel who were part of the Special Task Force contingent which had gunned down notorious sandalwood smuggler Veerappan.

By way of a reward the Tamil Nadu Government had allotted housing board plots to seven persons at Finger Post here.

Till now the housing board has handed over plots to only three persons, as there was a dispute over the ownership of the other four plots.

“We have been approaching the housing board, and even the Chief Minister’s Special Cell in vain,” they said.Mr. Sankar promised to look into the matter.
