Former Chief Minister and head of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Puratchi Thalaivi Amma faction O. Panneerselvam has urged the youth and students to join his ‘dharma yudham’ (fight for justice) and to form a government in the State that would be transparent and free of corruption.

At a meeting organised here on Saturday to prepare for party founder MGR’s birth anniversary celebrations, he said that with the interests of the State in mind, he would formulate policies and the youth would implement them.

When he was heading the State Government after former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s demise, he had worked with the Central Government on various issues such as the release of water from Andhra Pradesh to Chennai.

The present government was not taking a proactive approach towards governance. Nor was it keen on implementing the schemes announced by Jayalalithaa.

The State Government was not doing enough on issues such as NEET, Kadiramangalam, or Neduvasal. It was merely writing letters to the Centre.

Taking on Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) working president M.K. Stalin, Mr. Panneerselvam said the DMK leader was grossly mistaken if he were to imagine that he could capture power because of the differences between the AIADMK factions.

Mr. Panneerselvam also took on the Edappadi K. Palaniswami government saying it should have responded to actor Kamal Hassan’s criticism in a dignified manner.
