One killed in Tirupur road accident

One person was killed and seven others sustained severe injuries when the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus in which they were travelling hit a parked lorry near Olapalayam on Saturday.

The deceased was R. Sabapathy (39), the conductor of the bus.

Seven injured

The injured include bus driver Sunder Raj (36) from Dindigul district, and passengers Nava Karthik (27), Sivaprakash (28), Kamala Vasanth (37), Premavathi (36), Ramana (24) and Sournalingam (42). The injured were taken to taluk Government hospital at Kangayam.

The bus was proceeding to Tirupur from Mannarkudi along Vellakoil-Kangayam stretch when the accident occurred.

The Vellakoil police registered a case and are investigating.
