Minister for Highways and Minor Ports M. P. Saminathan handed over the letters of appointment to 103 persons who were recruited as salesmen/saleswomen to fill in some of the vacancies that existed in the Fair Price Shops (FPS) in the district, here on Sunday.
Collector C. Samayamoorthy said the administration took special effort to allocate some of the posts to differently abled persons. Accordingly, 12 differently abled persons who had passed SSLC were selected.
Mr. Samayamoorthy said that the 103 persons were selected from among the 112 candidates interviewed.
Joint Registrar of Co-operative Societies R. Ramamoorthy said that 20 more vacancies existing in the rank of salesmen would be filled shortly.
Minister Saminathan said that steps were being taken to bifurcate some more fair price shops in the district. to facilitate speedy distribution of essential commodities.
