With nothing to set him apart from other motorcyclists, 52 year old Umesh Chandra Panda has been going around this hill station unnoticed for the past couple of days.
However he attracted attention on Monday when he came to the Collectorate with his motorcycle sporting a banner.
Surrounded by curious onlookers, he told The Hindu that he was the Secretary of the Orissa based Vivekananda Viswachetana Abhiyan and his mission was to propagate the ideals of Swami Vivekananda to students of schools and colleges.
In tune with this, he had addressed the students of the Emerald Heights College for Women, the Government Arts College and the Shanthi Vijaya Girls Higher Secondary School here.
Pointing out that the response was good, he said that he had embarked on the journey from Sambalpur on January 12 and covered a distance of about 2300 kilometres. Mr.Panda said that the objective of the mission was to showcase him as the role model of youth.
"This message I want to convey from the highest hill station in the state", he stressed.
Mr.Panda who is an employee of the Indian Bank said that he would conclude his trip around February 3 after covering Karnataka and nearby places.
