Man found murdered

A 40-year-old man was found murdered with his head thrashed at Jadayampalayam village, near Sirumugai, on Wednesday.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that on Tuesday night the victim M. Suresh of Alangudi in Valasampalayam near Sirumugai was seen with two men.

They were identified as Nandilal Hembram (23) and Sudir Kerai (20) from West Singhbhum District in Jharkhand who worked at a textile firm and stay at the unit’s quarters. The police suspected that the duo could have murdered Suresh since they were missing after the incident.

The police said that the reason for the murder would be known only on arresting them.

The Sirumugai Police have registered a case under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

The victim was a banana leaf businessman. He was survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. Suresh’s body was sent to the government hospital for post-mortem examination.

Acquitted

All the seven persons who were named as the accused in the murder of K. Tamilanban (25), of Thillai Nagar near Kovaipudur, on January 22, 2015, were acquitted by the 5th Additional District Judge here on Wednesday. The victim was hacked to death by a gang said to be over gang rivalry at his friend’s place at P.K. Pudur, in Kuniyamuthur.

Charges were framed against the accused under sections 302 (punishment for murder), read with 109 (abetment is same as committing the crime), 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapon), 450 (house-trespass in order to commit offence), 120(B) (punishment for criminal conspiracy) and 506(ii) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Students arrested

Four students of a private engineering college near Sulur were arrested for allegedly stabbing three of their college-mates at Amarajothi Nagar, near Sulur, on Tuesday.

The police said that one of the victims S. Sujith (21) of Kollam, Kerala, was pursuing fourth year mechanical engineering and was the roommate of the prime accused, N. Mohammed Nazim (20), about two years ago. They got separated after a dispute over money.

On August 1, Nazim and his three friends P. Rahul Sibi (20), I. Sagal (20) and G. Arul (20), who are third year students, picked up quarrel with Sujith inside the campus, following which the management placed the four and Sujith under suspension. On Tuesday, an inquiry was conducted and the management revoked the suspension of Sujith. The police said that Sujith and two of his friends S. Kisham (22) and S. Vivek (24) went to another friend’s house at Amarjothi Nagar where Nazim, Sibi, Sagal and Arul were staying and stabbed them. All the four were arrested and sent to the Borstal Home in Pollachi.
