A. Sadam Hussain (19) was killed in an accident on Puttu Vikki Road on December 25 evening when he was caught underneath a tractor. The Traffic Investigation Wing-West police said that tractor driver P. Thangapandi lost control of the vehicle and it ran into a stream.
Hussain, who was sitting on the vehicle, fell and was caught beneath the vehicle. He died on the spot. Hussain worked as Thangapandi’s assistant.
In another accident, Palanichamy (35) of Thindal, Erode, died in Peelamedu on Saturday night. The Traffic Investigation Wing-East police said that a speeding car knocked him down when he attempted to cross Avinashi Road to board a bus to Erode. The car driver fled from the scene of crime. The police have registered a case in this connection.
Man commits suicide
Indrajith (52) of Vilathikulam, Tuticorin, committed suicide by hanging at his residence on Sundarapuram First Street on Saturday. At the time of the incident, he was under the influence of alcohol. Depression could be the reason, the police said.
