President of the Samathur Panchayat in Pollachi S.K. Chitra has tendered unconditional apology for the resolution she passed at the panchayat meeting on September 30.
According to a release, following the conviction of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader Jayalalithaa by a Bangalore special court, at the panchayat meeting, she piloted the resolution which spoke ill of Judge John Michael D’ Cunha and criticised the judgement.
But she was soon pulled up by the Madras High Court, where she tendered unconditional apology and promised to have the resolution withdrawn. And, accordingly, she convened another meeting of the panchayat on October 7. In a release, Ms. Chitra said that she also wanted to tender her apology through the media for the erroneous resolution.
