Occasional removal of accumulated waste in Wariyar Nagar in Ward 41 in Coimbatore Corporation is troubling residents.

Wariyar Nagar, near Gandhimanagar, in Ward 41 of the Coimbatore Corporation has poor roads and faulty lights, but that has not been troubling the residents as much as the civic body’s failure to remove garbage.

The place near the bin in Wariyar Nagar is littered with waste, which, residents complain, has remained there for days together.

Whatever they dumped remained there and as days passed by the odour turned unbearable, said resident N. Karthikeyan.

The residents said the Corporation also did not clear the bin, leave alone removing the waste accumulated near it. The last time it was regular in cleaning the bin and removing the garbage was at least over a year ago. The residents also said that they were forced to dump garbage near the bin because the civic body had never collected waste door-to-door. At a time when the civic body stressed on door-to-door collection and Clean India, it should look at added areas such as Wariyar Nagar.

Resident N. Vasuki wanted the Corporation to look at the problem at once and provide a relief as children were the most affected because of the odour. She also complained of dumping of carcass near the bin.

Sources in the Corporation said they would look at the issue and provide relief at the earliest.
