“In the 2G allocation I engineered a revolution,” declared A. Raja, former Telecom Minister and DMK candidate for the Nilgiris Parliamentary constituency while speaking to The Hindu here on Wednesday.
Stating that he had not committed any wrong in the 2G allocation, he claimed that he had brought about a revolution and added that he would prove his innocence. Pointing out that he was now more confident of a victory than in 2009, he said that he would win by a bigger margin.
Stating that the performance of his party and his own performance will stand him in good stead, he added, “I believe in performance rather than promises”.
Earlier, addressing supporters after filing his nomination, he refuted allegations relating to the 2G issue being made by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and challenged her to a debate in any platform at any place.
Pointing out that he was not burdened with any kind of guilt and had nothing to conceal, he expressed the confidence that the judgment of the court will be in his favour. He urged the voters to take a lead and give him a good verdict. Mr. Raja said that he would come out with handbills on the issue and distribute them among the residents.
Referring to the 102-page report which he had submitted to the Joint Parliamentary Committee constituted to go into the issue, he said that it had been read by AIADMK MPs V. Maithreyan and M. Thambidurai and wondered why they had not apprised their leader about it. He regretted that even the CPI and CPI (M) MPs were keeping quiet.
The CBI searches had not yielded anything, he said.
