Coimbatore District Police and Gem Hospital organised a special health camp in which more than 200 villagers from Kuppepalayam and Attukkal tribal settlements near Thondamuthur benefited.

At the camp, which was held on Sunday at the Panchayat Union Elementary School at Kuppepalayam, all the villagers were screened for common ailments, ulcer, hernia and other ailments in the intestine and for Hepatitis B and C. They were also vaccinated for Hepatitis B, for which booster vaccines will also be administered free of cost in September and February. The team led by doctors K. Muhilan and S. Gracy identified that more than 70 of them were diabetic. “Awareness programmes should be conducted,” Dr. Muhilan said.
