Handloom products, such as silk and cotton sarees, artificial silk, kota sarees and tassel would be on display during the nine-day Handloom Expo-2010, beginning here on January eight next.
The objective of the expo, which was also organised as a mega marketing event, was to give an opportunity to handloom weavers all over the country to market their products directly to customers and to popularise use of handlooms, S Periasamy, Deputy Director, Textile Committee, Union ministry of textiles, told PTI.
The exhibition was being jointly organised by the committee and Hi-Tech International Trade Fair India Private Ltd, he said.
Such kind of events would be organised in important cities all over the country along with the local festivals, he said.
Saying that participants in the expo would get an opportunity to showcase their strength and enhance their brand value, he said they would also get facility to know the prevailing trends.
