Government urged to declare exam results

Exam for the post of Forest Rangers was held in February 2011

August 22, 2011 09:37 am | Updated 09:38 am IST - COIMBATORE:

The association of forestry graduates and students of the Forest College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam, has urged the State Government to declare the results of the examination conducted for the post of forest rangers.

In a release, the association said the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission had announced the results of the examination conducted for the recruitment of persons for the post of V.A.O. but not for the examination conducted to select forest rangers, though the two exams were held within a gap of few days in February this year.

Vacancy

Though more than 50 per cent of the forest ranger posts in the Department of Forests were lying vacant for 25 years, the Government had done very little to remedy the situation. Only in 2009 did it start the recruitment process. But it had to abandon the same a few days prior to the examination.

Notification

The Government issued a fresh notification again in 2010 and conducted the examination in February 2011.

The Forest Department, which reserves one per cent of the vacancies for its staff in ministerial service, had conducted examination, interview and physical fitness for the same within a month.

The association lamented that the Government was delaying the declaration of results of examinations conducted for rangers.

It hoped that the Government would act fast, declare the results and fill vacancies in the Department at least this year, as it happened to be the International Year of Forests.
