The 12th edition of the four-day Knit-Tech-2013, one of the premier knitting technology trade fairs in Asia, commenced at Thirumuruganpoondi on the city outskirts on Friday.
Organised by Hi-Tech International Trade Fair India Private Limited, this year’s fair is displaying some of the latest technological innovations in different segments of the apparel production chain which include textile machinery to produce premium garment products, energy and cost saving appliances for knitting, wet processing and compacting, and high quality printing equipment, among others.
A total of 400 stalls were set up at the fair arena in which machinery and apparel accessories manufacturers from Germany, Italy, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, India and Korea had showcased their latest state-of-the-art products.
“Apart from presenting the machinery and other gadgets, we have also made arrangements to provide awareness to the visiting textile manufacturers on the energy conservation techniques in the wake of power crisis in the State and arranged fashion shows on February 23 and 24 to display newly developed designs,” M.A. Rayappan, chairman of Hi-Tech International Trade Fair Limited, said.
Talking on the impressions from the fair, Dyers Association of Tirupur president S. Nagarajan told The Hindu that gadgets like the ‘balloon padder with spirality control’ exhibited at the fair were capable of giving value-addition to the fabric during dyeing and its subsequent processes.
“The latest model of the ‘spirality’ control machine will help the dyers to accurately limit the permissible spiral percentage of the fabric within 4 per cent,” he added.
Other attractive machinery on sale at the fair include seamless garment knitting machine, automatic double sewing machine, real-time production monitoring systems and solar power generation panels for industrial units, among others.
The Dyers Association of Tirupur had put up a stall to explain the zero liquid discharge technology that was being implemented in the wet processing sector in Tirupur knitwear cluster.
The event was inaugurated by South India Hosiery Manufacturers Association president A. C. Eswaran in the presence of presidents of Tirupur Export Knit Printing Association, Dyers Association of Tirupur, Knit Cloth Manufacturers Association, among others.
