Fixing of inner sheets for renewal of PDS cards from December 15

November 30, 2014 09:36 am | Updated 09:36 am IST - COIMBATORE:

Fixing of inner sheets for the year 2015 in the Public Distribution System (PDS) family cards in the district will begin from December 15 and go on till December 31. The renewal will be done through respective PDS outlets where the card holders buy the essential commodities.

District supply officials said that the process has been preponed this year to help the card holders get the essential commodities from the 1,374 PDS outlets, including 274 part-time outlets, in the district from January 2015.

To facilitate easy completion of the renewal process, the card holders would be asked to finish procurement of essential commodities before December 14.

It has been decided that the sheets would be fixed for 200 cards a day from December 15 to 19 (or 20) based on the number of card holders in each shop.

From December 22, till the end of the month would be open days and those who could not get the additional sheet affixed during the scheduled day, could get their cards renewed during this period.

The card holder or an adult from the family should come to the ration shops for renewal by making an acknowledgement in the shop.

Address proof

There are 7,714 PDS family cards in the district who do not procure any commodity. They use the card to retain their address proof. They can renew the cards at ease in the Tamil Nadu Government portal in the renewal link provided under the Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department, which will be active from December 1.
