Five booked on charges of carrying out fraudulent land sale

The District Crime Branch (DCB) has booked five persons on charges of carrying out a fraudulent land sale in Coimbatore.

According to the police, C. Natarajan (49) of Velandipalayam had entered into an agreement with A. Chinnaraj (66) of Thenkarai village and four others to purchase three acres on March 24, 2011. Natarajan had paid Rs. 10 lakh for the land and another Rs. 6 lakh for cleaning it.

Following this, Chinnaraj had allegedly used forged papers to record the sales at the Sub-Register Office on Thondamuthur. Based on a complaint by Natarajan, the DCB on Monday registered a case and invoked Sections 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 420 (cheating) and 506 (i)(criminal intimidation) read with Section 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

The others charged in the case include L. Maheswari (38) of Pachapalayam, S. Jothimani (35) of Thenkarai, R. Indhumathi (33) and S. Soundararajan (48).
