Singanallur Police have begun probing the death of G. Ravichandran (48), a nephew P.R. Sundaram, AIADMK MP from Namakkal, at Ortho One here on Monday. The MP had alleged that the hospital administration’s wrong treatment was the reason for the death.

He staged a protest on the hospital premises on Monday but gave up following negotiations from the hospital management and police. Thereafter, Ravichandran’s widow Pushpam lodged a complaint with the Singanallur Police, who subsequently registered a suspicious death case.

The hospital’s chairman David V Rajan denied that the death was due to medical negligence. The hospital followed medical procedure as per international protocol and even availed of the services of a cardiologist as Ravichandran’s condition worsened after anaesthesia was administered. The doctors treated him for 45 minutes to one hour to revive him.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, doctors at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital conducted postmortem which was videographed.
