Enmity between two families leads to violence

May 28, 2014 12:16 pm | Updated 12:16 pm IST - COIMBATORE:

A family in Madukkarai, Coimbatore allegedly let loose its dog on a man and his father, its neighbours, on Tuesday.

The Coimbatore Rural Police, who have registered a case, said it was due to enmity.

Selvaraj (53), and his son Dinesh Kumar (24), of Samichettipalayam, Madukkarai, suffered dog bite and also blows from their neighbours.

Selvaraj is under treatment at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and Kumar at a hospital in Coonoor.

The police said that when Kumar was returning home, his neighbour Rangasamy abused him and also his father.

When Kumar questioned Rangasamy’s behaviour, the latter abused and assaulted him. Soon Rangasamy’s family members joined him.

They assaulted Kumar with wooden clubs. They also rained blows on Selvaraj, who rushed to rescue his son, who cried out for help.

It was then that Rangasamy’s family let loose its dog, which bit both man and his son.

The police said that Rangasamy nurtured a suspicion that Kumar had helped in the elopement of his daughter and the suspicion grew into enmity between the two neighbours.

The police said that they had registered a case in this connection and further investigation is on.
