The Association for the Rights of the Visually Challenged (ARVIC) held an exhibition at the PSG College of Arts and Science on Friday of day-to-day articles, gadgets and other things that are designed for visually challenged persons.

R. Srinivasan, president, ARVIC, said that students of Government College of Education and the PSG institution showed great interest in the exhibits. There were nearly 20 exhibits that included specially designed chess board, Taylor frame and abacus for learning and teaching mathematics, Braille boards, calculator and pack of cards.

The objective of holding the exhibition was to help sighted people realise that the visually challenged led as good a life as any other and were on a par with others when it came to abilities and talents.

The ARVIC had organised the exhibition as part of a three-day event to commemorate its 10{+t}{+h}anniversary and Louis Braille’s birth anniversary.

On Saturday, the organisation would organise at Annamalai Hotel a panel discussion on laws related to disability, inclusive society, present condition of visually challenged women and on Sunday it would celebrate its 10{+t}{+h}anniversary by releasing a souvenir containing stories penned by visually challenged people, Mr. Srinivasan added.
