Officials from Indane (LPG division) of Indian Oil Corporation along with Flying Squad officials from the District Supply Office raided a couple of eateries and detected cases of seven subsidised domestic cylinders being stocked for commercial purposes.

Following information, a team of officials led by Deputy Manager (Indane) D. Suresh and Assistant Manager Ramya Nair along with Special Deputy Tahsildar S. Ravi raided the eateries on Idayar Street, Thomas Street, RG Street and seized seven cylinders. The domestic cylinders are used for commercial purposes because of the rate difference. Domestic cylinders weighing 14.2 kg are priced at Rs 316.40 while commercial cylinders weighing 19 kg are priced at Rs 1,100.

Officials have planned to sustain the drive focussing on eateries, bakeries, mess and tea shops and welding units.
