The Governor laid the foundation for a new block, in which the Hospital is planning to establish an advanced gastroenterology centre.

Accurate detection of the cause of the disease was important for proper treatment, said Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah at the foundation laying function organised at VGM Hospital on Friday.

The Governor laid the foundation for a new block, in which the Hospital is planning to establish an advanced gastroenterology centre.

There were new specialisations emerging in the field of medicine but for treatment to be effective the doctors should detect the root cause.

They did not have an option of treating by the trial and error method.

If done so, it would not only them but also the patients in trouble.

Wishing the hospital management and Chairman V.G. Mohanprasad the best, he said it was only appropriate that the grew well in the city, which was an industrial, commercial and educational hub. But if he were to wish the hospital well, it would mean that they get more and more patients – meaning the people turn sick.

It was not his intension, though, the Governor clarified.

The hospital, started only three years ago, was in its infancy. It had a long way to go and make many more marks.

Dr. Mohanprasad spoke about the facilities the new block would have: liver dialysis, fibro scan, and holistic obesity care.
