On the first day of assuming office on Thursday as the Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner, S. Ganesh reviewed the preparedness for the election to the post of the Coimbatore Mayor.

Instructions

According to sources, the Commissioner issued instructions to officials to scrupulously follow the Model Code of Conduct by removing wall graffiti, posters and hoardings.

He also reviewed the poll preparedness of the 6,500-odd polling personnel and asked zonal officers to check the facilities available at the 1,300-odd polling booths.  The sources said that the BEL officers were in the city to check the electronic voting machines. Earlier, in the day, Mr. Ganesh assumed office around 9 a.m.

He said that his immediate priority was the smooth conduct of the Mayoral election. Once that was over, he would focus on ensuring basic amenities for the city’s residents.
