A hotel employee and member of the Friends of Police organisation, S. Ravi, was appreciated by City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan on Thursday for his act of honesty.

According to the police, on January 13 when Mr.Ravi was returning home after work, he spotted a purse along the roadside near Ramakrishna Hospital. He found Rs.9,030 cash, three ATM cards and photographs in it.

Mr. Ravi took the purse to Friends of Police co-ordinator Senthil Kumar and it was taken to the notice of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) T. Senthilkumar and Mr.Viswanathan.

With the help of the photograph, the police traced the owner of the purse, Sivanandarajan, a sugar merchant of Range Gowder Street.

The purse was handed over to Mr.Sivanandarajan. The police officials lauded Mr. Ravi and Mr.Senthilkumar for their efforts.
