The SriLankan Airlines will operate four flights a week from Colombo to Coimbatore from July 15.
Airport director G. Prakash Reddy recently convened a meeting of all senior officers of the airport, including the Customs and Immigration authorities, in order to facilitate the new international flight operation by SriLankan Airlines.
Hardip Singh Pal, Manager, Government Affairs – India, a representative of SriLankan Airlines briefed about their proposal of operating international flights on route Colombo-Coimbatore-Colombo.
The airlines will be operated on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday with proposed arrival and departure timings as 14:35 and 15:35 on route Colombo-Coimbatore-Colombo. Mr. Reddy requested SriLankan Airlines management to consider operation of daily flights at least from winter schedule 2017-18 onwards instead of operating four flights a week from Coimbatore Airport. SriLankan Airlines will be the third international airliner commencing their international flight operations to Coimbatore in addition to Air Arabia and Silk Air.
