District Collector M. Karunagaran on Monday asked officials to move Labour Court against a plastic manufacturing unit to help a youth who lost his left palm while working there.

R. Mahendran, a 21-year-old youth on Monday submitted a petition to District Collector seeking the intervention of district administration in getting compensation.

Mr. Mahendran, a resident of R.G. Pudur, near Chinniyampalayam, said that his left palm was crushed while working at the manufacturing unit located near his home on May 27. So far, the company had not given him any money as compensation.

He requested the Collector to initiate legal action against the company and recover compensation.

After perusing the petition, Mr. Karunagaran told Mr. Mahendran that he will take steps to provide an artificial hand for him. He directed officials to approach Labour Court and file a case against the company concerned.
