R. Rukmani of Samichettipalayam, and family members have petitioned District Collector Archana Patnaik on Monday seeking steps to prevent the transfer of title deed of a piece of land that belonged to the Veerabhadrasamy Temple in Kurumbapalayam.
The petition said that the family members were in possession of 50 acres. Following differences among them, they had partitioned the land on June 29, 1944. During the partition, 1 acre was earmarked for the Veerabhadrasamy Temple.
This could be found in the registration document 2180 of 1952.
When the land details were being entered in the land records, the place was wrongly mentioned as Perur instead of Kurumbapalayam. Exploiting this clerical error, the descendants of Nanjappa Gounder had changed the patta of the land belonging to the Veerabhadrasamy Temple.
They had not obtained clearance from the HR & CE. The petitioner wanted the Collector to probe the patta transfer, and restore the land to the temple.
