The Coimbatore City Police said that there would be a few traffic diversions in the city - from Kalapatti Junction to Avanashi road flyover - on Monday evening during Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s election campaign here.

The Chief Minister is expected to arrive at Coimbatore at about 4.15 p.m. and be in the city for about two hours. She will participate in a programme at Anna statute on Avanashi Road and then address a public meeting.

The traffic police said that vehicles going to Gandhipuram from Kalapatti junction will be diverted through Sathyamangalam Road and those from Gandhipuram to Trichy Road through Good Shed Road.

The police also said that the entire stretch of Avinashi Road from Coimbatore Airport to the VOC Park ground is likely to be blocked till the Chief Minister leaves the city as many cadres are expected to throng either side of the road as her convoy passes by.
