Charred body of woman found in Coimbatore

The charred body of an unidentified woman, said to be around 25 years of age, was found at an isolated place near the Chettipalayam Road on Wednesday.

According to police sources, the woman’s face was burnt. Cut injuries were also found on the woman’s throat leading the police to conclude that she was murdered and her face burnt to prevent identification.

The body has been sent to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Destroyed in fire

Fire broke out in a shop at Sirumugai near Mettupalayam in the early hours of Wednesday. Goods worth several lakh rupees, stored in the shop were destroyed in the fire.
