Case against transgenders

The City Police have registered theft cases against three transgenders.

According to the police, K. Naveen (20) of Tirupur was in the city for shopping. He was standing near his car on DB Road in R.S. Puram when three transgenders accosted him and demanded money. As he removed his wallet to give some cash, they allegedly grabbed his wallet and took off. The R.S. Puram Police are investigating.

Case registered

Yesudoss (45) of K.V. Madapur has been booked under charges of operating a power loom in his godown, also at Madapur, without authorisation. According to the police, a complaint was filed by V. Chandramohan, Assistant Director, Handloom Enforcement Wing, Tirupur, on Monday following the Coimbatore district police took action. The Karumathampatti Police have registered a case under the Handlooms Act, 1985 and are investigating.

Jewellery stolen

3.5 sovereigns of gold jewellry were stolen from a woman here on Monday. According to the police, R. Shanthi (48) of Irugur was walking along a road in Irugur when two persons came on a motorcycle, snatched her chain and fled the scene. Singanallur Police are investigating.

Held on eve-teasing charge

The driver of a private bus has been arrested on charge of eve-teasing two girl students from Sudan.

According to the police, Manikandan (29) of Ettimadai was allegedly in an inebriated condition when he harassed the girls as they were walking along the Oppanakara Street. After the girls raised an alarm, some locals caught Manikandan and handed him over to the Big Bazaar Street Police, who have registered a case.

BSNL staff stage protest

Unions of the State-run telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited staged a protest here on Tuesday as part of their nation-wide two-day strikeagainst government for not taking concrete action to revive the loss making company. The Union members staged a demonstration in front of the BSNL Head Office here.
