Annur Police attached to the Coimbatore District Police have registered a case against a businessman on Saturday for allegedly cheating actress P. Bhuvaneswari (35) by forging documents and getting the property registered in his name.
The police said that the incident took place in 2012.
According to the police, preliminary inquiry revealed that the actress who hails from Thennampalayam, near Annur, is now residing at Saligramam in Chennai.
It is learnt that she owned a theatre and a house on an area of 64 cents at Annur.
She is said to have sold the house and a portion of land to N. Subramaniam of the same locality in February 2012.
The police quoted the actress as saying that the businessman forged documents and also got the theatre and rest of the land registered in his name, at the Sub-Registrar’s office at Annur.
Subramaniam was booked under sections 467 (forgery of valuable security or will), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (Using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code.
No arrest was made till Sunday.
