Taking head on both the AIADMK and DMK-Congress will be the Bharatiya Janata Party’s objective as they are equally corrupt and responsible for the problems ailing the State, the National General Secretary of the party Muralidhar Rao said here on Wednesday.
Addressing reporters, he said that both the parties benefitted out of the nexus with distilleries and Tasmac.
BJP was the only party that had the moral authority to talk of corruption and qualified to provide good governance.
The people too were inclined towards the party in Tamil Nadu.
The youth too wanted a credible alternative to the AIADMK and DMK, especially the over one crore first-time voters, Mr. Rao said.
The western region was rich in turmeric production but in the absence of support from the AIADMK and DMK state governments, there was no development of turmeric-centric business.
Likewise, by encouraging ethanol production, the governments could have helped sugarcane farmers. Instead the two governments chose to side with the distilleries to produce liquor and ruin the State.
The BJP did not equate Indian-made foreign liquor with the toddy and this stand would be reflected in its manifesto.
Commenting on the crisis in the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, he said that it showed that only the BJP could be the effective opposition in the State in this election.
Asked about the impact in Tamil Nadu of BJP’s two year governance at the Centre, Mr. Rao said that not one fisherman was killed in the past.
Whereas around 550 fishermen were killed when the DMK-Congress was in power in New Delhi.
Fishermen were getting released frequently and their seized boats too were being returned.
The BJP government was also working to provide a permanent solution to the vexatious fishermen issue.
