BJP, KMDK candidates file papers

Bharatiya Janata Party’s nominee for the Kavundampalayam Assembly constituency R. Nandakumar on Friday filed nomination before Returning Officer at the Thudiyalur ward office. The 44-year-old had stated that he had not been convicted for crimes.

He had, however, been cited as an accused in a poll code violation case registered by the Peelamedu Police station. The incident took place during the 2014 by-election to the Coimbatore mayorship.

He had income worth Rs. 44.1 lakh as per the Income Tax returns he had filed last year. His moveable assets were worth Rs. 22.94 lakh and his wife’s Rs. 16.06 lakh. He had a non-agriculture land in Thudiyalur worth Rs. 20 lakh, which was a family property.

He had no liabilities and did not have any outstanding with any government agency, Mr. Nandakumar had said. He had also stated he had studied B.A. Psychology at the Government Arts College, Coimbatore.

In the Sulur Assembly constituency, an Indu Makkal Katchi nominee Kavitha Mani and an Independent K. Natarajan had filed nomination papers. The 53-year-old had stated that he had no cases pending against him, had completed SSLC at the Government Higher Secondary School, Sulur, and had a plot with house worth around Rs. 20 lakh.

In the Coimbatore North Assembly constituency, Independent candidate V. Krishnan filed nomination.
