Members of Tamil Nadu Hair Dressers Union (Tirupur city wing) thronged the collectorate here on Monday to bring the professional and social discriminations they encounter in society to the notice of the district administration.

In a petition to Collector M. Mathivanan, the hair dressers pointed out that banks always show reluctance to disburse loans to them.

“The bank officials often ask for unattainable collateral securities even when approach them for working capital loans as low as Rs. 50,000,” M. Subramaniam, city president of the Union, said. Another petition demanded shifting of a spinning mill coming up in the heart of a residential colony in Anupatti village in Palladam taluk.
