A number of bank employees staged a demonstration in front of Vijaya Bank, Dr.Nanjappa Road, here demanding absorption of temporary sweepers and sub-staff who are in Tamil Nadu.

According to M.V.Rajan, General Secretary, Coimbatore District Employees Association (CDBEA), the bank has more than 1,200 branches all over the country.

However, he said, there were only about 200 sweepers and sub-staff of this nature who are on its rolls.

Temporary

Thus more than 1,000 persons working in this cadre are temporary, it was pointed out.

“This is a demonstration for just one point. All that we want is that all those working on temporary basis should be absorbed and thus outsourcing should be stopped,” he added.

Those who took part in the demonstration that was organised in front of the bank included E.Seetharaman, Assistant Secretary, Vijaya Bank Workers Organisation, and A.Velusamy, President, CDBEA.
